AAR 11/30/08

I would like to thank our guests for making the trip from Tulsa. It was a pleasure to get to play with you all.

I would also like to thank the new players that came out to mix it up on such a cold day.

A special thanks to Sabot for organizing the event and putting the scenarios together and Chopper for the use of the field.

Upon arrival the temperature was in the bone chilling cold range, I would say in the mid to high 30s. Mother nature was testing our fortitude with no real relief on the the lack of sunlight until the 3-4:00 range. She even threw some light rain at us a couple of times. We had very nice turnout, I believe in the 26 player range. Hopefully Knight or Sabot can post the group pictures that were taken to correct me on the numbers. We used the assigned medic to revive by ropes rule to make the game more dynamic, which made for some very entertaining medic activity. Great job by the medics in keeping the action intense.

First scenario was capture the crates. Tan started in the far Southeast corner of the parking area and Green started in the mobile comm station area. Two-Fitty was gracious enough to lead the Green team and I was leading the Tan team. Strangely enough, Tan outnumbered Green by 6 this week. Tan decided to split up into 2 large forces, a fast one to hit the crates deep into the field by the ravine side led by Kraut and a slower squad to hold the cabinet shop and ravine crates captured by Kraut and his squad. Rev and Fox set up a very nice defense at the ravine to cover the ravine crate and allow Krauts squad to aggressively move forward. I sent Kill Happy and Boomer as a fast recon squad to locate the crate by the small pond to give us the third crate required for victory.
The second squad moved along the tree line on the small pond side to push into the trees and attempt to put pressure on the greens holding the crate at the edge of the woods. Krauts squad had moved across the short side of the big pond and was pressuring them from that side as well. Green soon decided that they were tired of our presence and made an aggressive push at our attacking force working the poor medics. Through some intense firefights Green managed to come out the victors and pushed our advance back to the treeline at the small pond. Little did we know that they had sent a group to deal with Rev and Fox on the ravine side (who fought tooth and nail to hold it) and had managed to secure the crate located there. Our reinforcement wave arrived at the small pond flag just in time to back Kill Happy, Boomer and Rookie up to not lose possession of our prized crate. A small group of Tan (I could not see who they were from where I was) fought long and hard with Green to secure the ravine crate with one minute left in the game to give us the win for the scenario. I would like to commend the Tan team for the rally to the cause at the end to come out victorious, it just doesn't get much closer that that. I would also like to commend the Green team for the aggressive push to evict us from their territory, securing the ravine crate, and their outstanding overall performance against unfavorable odds.

The second scenario was Escort the VIP. Green was to escort and Tan was to ambush to attempt capture of the VIP. Tan was set up as semi-auto only. Tan set up an extensively laid out plan to funnel the greens onto the dam from the ravine side into a ambush by Krauts squad. Unfortunately for us they decided that they were going to travel the opposite direction, coming from the west fence line instead of the planed village. We quickly reacted to the intel of their location and adjusted the strategy to deal with the advance on the dam from the fort. I took a 3 man squad to circle around the small pond treeline and search for the VIP.Green did a very good job of keeping the VIP hidden, they had traveled all the way to the fort before we could figure out where he was. We received radio traffic to his location and humped it all the way around by the west fence line and into the trees at the mobile comm station to attempt a flanking maneuver. We receive radio traffic that the dam defense is in imminent danger of collapsing and we have about two minutes to make something happen or green will escape. As we approached from the trees behind the fort, Chopper steps out into the clearing to attempt to shoot a large group of Green. His gun does not shoot and he is forced to retreat into the trees. This activity stirs up a hornets nest of green who make short work of our group, but buys the defenders holding green at the dam time to medic up and redeploy. Very nice work to Gremlin, who rushes us and manages to get 2 of the 3 of us. The game seems to be at a stalemate with green fortified in the fort and tan unable to assault it with battery issues from the cold. We start sending small squads to hit the perimeters of their defense. I manage to work my way around to the west side of the treeline where Sabot has wandered out of their defense with Fade in tow trying to recapture him. Tan secures Sabot and rallies up to cover the escape as the game is called. I would like to commend my tan leadership team for their quick thinking in revising the plan and stopping green at the fort when our defenses were in the wrong place. Green did a great job of holding us off at the fort with us having superior numbers.

A third game was played but I was unable to participate. Could someone fill in the details to that one for me please? I remember hearing something about a "jack rabbit" (Kraut)but I don't know the story.

All in all, I think that everyone had a good time. The game play was fluid and entertaining, thanks to Sabot's planning skills and the players seemed to be enjoying themselves. I know that I had a great time and am looking forward to the next one. Thank you to everyone who attended.

I would like to thank all who came out and played alongside us in this vicious cold weather, but we had a great time and got some great trigger time. Thanks to Sabot who set up the games and volunteering to be the VIP. Thanks again Chopper for the use of the feild and helping tan to their two victories. I and Boomer had to go pick up my wife and daughter in Norman and head on back to Cheyenne.
Thanks to Arkus and Kraut for their leadership on tan. Thanks to Rookie for his advise on using handsigns which made it easier on all of us amongest all the confusion and chaos. And thanks to Boomer for being my right hand man. Also, thanks to two-fitty for his generousity.
Green, althrough, outnumbered did a great job keeping tan occupied. My apologies to Arkus for not answering you three times over the comms, my mic was fryed. All in all, tan maintain, and green, OUTSTANDING effort.
It's not whether you get knocked down, but whether you get up again!

Guys, all I have to say is...That was awesome. I will defintely be coming to Harrah more often.
Especially if someone doesn't cancel in the last minute *cough, JP, cough*.

It was a little chily and really windy, but it wasn't too bad once you got in the trees.

Thanks to Sabot for planning out the day and to Chopper for use of his property,
and thanks to the OKCAG for having us Tulsa players down.
